Using A Towel During Practice Can Help Swing
March 23, 2005 - Bob E. Smith

We have all seen and in some cases tried various devices designed to help our golf game.

But all golfers have one of the most effective training devices hanging from their golf bag. It's a hand towel.

After establishing good basics (grip, ball position, alignment), place the towel under each arm. Hit short irons holding on to the towel during the entire swing. Do not drop the towel.

Having it under your arms should allow you to feel a connection of arms/hands going along with your body. None of these should be separate from the other.

This will also help develop a good rotation of the body. It promotes a proper weight shift as you move back and forth to strike the ball.

It teaches a player to have fewer moving parts and promotes more solid shots. And most of all, it helps develop the use of large muscles, which allows for better shot-making with less effort.
